Jim Weiss, Gifted Storyteller
62Storytelling
Storyteller Jim Weiss has been an integral part of our family vacations for years, and he probably doesn't even realize it.
Mr. Weiss' voice has been heard on countless recordings of stories that we have listened to in our various treks to different parts of the country. His voice is sharp and clear, and his speaking ability is (in my opinion) without equal. He is a master of accents and inflections, and even young children are so captivated with his stories that they can sit for an hour, completely entranced and mesmerized by both the delivery and the content of the talk.
How do I know this? I have witnessed it first hand. This past weekend, just as he's done for years in the past, Jim Weiss spoke at the state homeschool conference in North Carolina.
Jim Weiss gave two talks this weekend. The stories of G.K. Chesterton were the topic of the first talk, and he told us one of the Father Brown mysteries, a story named The Blue Cross.
The second talk was about the temple in Jerusalem, covering the period from when the temple was first built to the time when the second temple was destroyed. This seems as though it would be a talk that might not hold the interest of the younger ear, but the kids were absolutely riveted.
I encourage you to give Jim Weiss a try. I think you'll be glad you did.
Check his site, Greathall Productions, for more information.
Mr. Weiss, thank you for coming to the conference, and we look forward to hearing more of you when we head out on our summer trip!
